When one of our new injection moulding customers expressed an interest in exporting their innovative product to Japan we remembered. The University of Nottingham together with JETAA UK (Japan Exchange And Teaching Programme Alumni) and the University’s Asian Business Centre hosted an event titled ‘Japan related interests in the Midlands’ at the Sir Colin Campbell Building at their Innovation Park. So we took our customer along.
The event agenda opening remarks from the University and JETAA UK representatives followed by some presentations on:
- Japan in the Midlands by Kiyoko Naish of Qi Concepts (consultancy for helping businesses trade with Japan).
- Japan/Nottingham Research Collaboration by Dr. Adam Clare
- Using University Links to Succeed in Japan by Richard Freeman of Zeeko Ltd.
A networking reception followed with chances to meet with consultants, Japanese Government Officials, UKTI, JETAA UK Alumni with their experiences of Japan, local Japanese businesses and University staff.
Our customer tells us he made some great contacts and insight to trading with Japan. He now also has connections to JETRO (Japan External Trade Organisation) and a local Japanese community he can access for product focus group testing so great progress.
