Kavia’s Iain Hill attended the 2014 Autumn Fair at the Birmingham NEC on Tue 3rd September. The reasons for visiting the show were to research consumer product trends and look for potential new customer leads. Secondly it was a great chance to meet with a prospective customer that has a new product in the toy sector so a good setting to walk that hall and gain insight into the industry with the client.
There are 11 sectors to view at the event: Contemporary Gift & Home, Kitchen, Dining & Housewares, Gifts, Home Interiors & Furniture, Gift, Home & Volume, Hobby, Arts & Craft, Greetings & Gift, Children’s Gifts, Toys & Gadgets, Body, Bath & Home Fragrance, The Summerhouse and Fashion Jewellery & Accessories but Kavia was on the look out for plastic injection moulded products of UK based companies.
Came away from the show with two strong leads and that toy customer committed to placing business with us so a very productive day. Of the two leads, Kavia offered to review their current UK sourced mouldings and offer cost reduction solutions. This has been offered in a report at various levels from a tool transfer solution to investment in design and innovation that adds value to products (for retailers and end consumers) whilst reducing manufacturing and transportation costs.
