Kavia Moulded Products has designed and manufactured two rowing and sculling products http://kavia.wpengine.com/new-products-from-kavia/ The BLMB Kit is a bracket that you can attach your bicycle lights to and in-turn attach to the boat. It is manufactured from our scrap material as part of our internal efficiencies program. The second is the 2K Bow Ball, a new super durable bow ball with a 2-part design that includes a strengthened core.
The bracket was due to trial on Monday 15th October and the elected launch event was the Diamond Jubilee Rowing Championships (DJRC) at the Olympic Rowing venue of Dorney Lake on the Saturday 20th October so making sure the tool tested OK and produced saleable parts first time was essential. Also waiting in the wings was our UK Distributor Neaves Rowing Services keen to get their first order so this quantity was also produced successfully.
This was testament to the Kavia’s tool making and right first-time track record as noted in the ‘Speed to Market’ news article. Kavia set up a small trade stand to show the products to the public and rowing audience for the first time. This is to support our distributors in addition to the advertising in Rowing and Regatta magazine. The stand was located at the 1500m mark due to the remnants of the Olympic structures well away from the competitors area so didn’t see many rowers all day but of those we did meet all feedback was positive.
You can see photos of our stand on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/kaviamouldedproducts We also showed the BLMB LED Pod concept with port and starboard indicating colours, which was well received. A little more research is required into each of the major waterways laws but looks like it will be a possible product to launch next winter. Also got to witness some great racing with a new format that started with a time trial and then seeded semi-finals and finals resulting in some very close racing.
