The Google Glass is a wearable device mounted on bespoke frames to wear like glasses. For those that don’t need visual correction there are no lenses, just the frame and device body. The right-side mounted hardware has an offset from natural line of vision screen and the body contains the CPU, wireless technology, speaker, camera and batteries with a total weight less than normal sunglasses.
The device will give all the typical notifications you would receive on your smartphone such as emails, text and app messages. In addition and in the latest promotional video is offering live video streaming, photography and navigation all with hands-free voice activation.
The product is being pushed for lifestyle users and enterprise. For the latter you can imagine extensive use in the emergency services, help desks and call centres but how would Kavia Moulded Products use such a device to enhance our added value and services?
Injection Moulding is a complex process and live video streaming could be used for communicating issues live as they happen to our technical support channels or customers. Kavia has 7 machines producing over 250,000 mouldings per month and tool changes are happening everyday and sometimes every hour so there are bound to be circumstances that could benefit from live communication.
The Google Glass is not yet in production so you are not going to see it in use at Kavia for some time but there are interim solutions as we do have wifi, smart phones and tablets we currently use to communicate as it happens information when required.
