Sourcing your injection mould tools in the UK offers a distinct advantage on project time and approval into production (typically saving at least 2 months versus a China tool program, see our case study example here). Kavia has our customer tools produced nearby and supervises the design, specification and project on behalf of our customers.
We tool our own products, the BLMB Kit single impression open and shut tool took 4 weeks including tool design, steel delivery, component marking and production approval, case study here. The 2K Bow Ball, a more complex 1+1 over-moulding design took 8 weeks including tool design and production approval, case study here.
Having a local toolmaker, we can instantly react to tool wear or the unlikely event of failure with minimum levels of component production downtime. Our toolmakers use the latest CAD/CAM computer software to design and manufacture the injection mould tools. A concurrent engineering approach is taken to optimise machine, human resources and lights-out manufacture resulting in competitive pricing and timescales.
A Meusburger datum system allows any job to run on any of the 6 Hurco CNC machining stations. Kavia can mould tools to up to 570mm platen size but our toolmaker can go to 650mm with current plant.
- Aluminium open and shut tools for lower investment
- Production hardened steel tools
- Single impression thermoplastic components
- Multi-impression thermoplastic components
- Family tools and turn-gate options
- Hot runner thermoplastic components (Hot runner components are produced from single cavity hot nozzle mould tools through to multi-cavity mould tools)
- Auto unscrewing thermoplastic components (Auto unscrewing moulds are the preferred design for components with an internal thread such as plastic caps and closures)
- Moving cores (hydraulic and mechanical)
- Split cavity
- Sprung Cores
- Mechanisms
- Insert Moulding, such as metal threads
- Over-Moulding, transfer moulding
- High polished finishes and complex texture masking
