Project Management
What makes a successful plastic injection moulded project? There are a number of factors but experience is certainly one of the major ones, Kavia Moulded Products has been working on an average of 12 projects a year for the last 25 years with the same engineering and quality team, that’s over 300 projects and probably over 1,500 injection moulded components! That knowledge and experience is essential in forecasting and executing a successful project plan with your supply chain.
Typical measures of project success are timing and being on budget. The ‘start of production’ date (SOP) rarely moves and missing it can very costly. Kavia can offer customers budget and actual costings as early as you like in the project, the sooner the better. The various levels of project support Kavia can offer:
- Customer has own dedicated project manager, requires supplier’s input of their elements and manages all dates, tracking and contingencies.
- Customer has own designers and buyers, requires supplier’s input of their elements and manages all dates, tracking and contingencies except supplier elements such as tooling.
- Customer requires full project management support from Kavia as part of or all of design, prototype, validate, certify, tool, production and approval elements.
A case study of the advantages of a Kavia UK tool and production project versus an offshore China tool project can be found here. You can save a lot of time (2 months is typical saving) and money getting to market on time.
